History

In 2011, project principals Michael Young and Greg Smith produced the musical play The Forgotten Carols and presented it around the Southeast during the Christmas season.  They believed strongly that this musical’s Advent message of hope and redemption would resonate with a broad audience. They sought to reach those who had simply “tuned out” the celebration of the season due to adverse personal circumstances, or the pervasive and overwhelming secular noise of “holiday consumerism.”  This goal is, in fact, in harmony with the plot of the musical.

Young and Smith found that they were right.  Their initial undertaking changed lives at every performance and reached believers of many faiths. [See attached testimonials from Pastors].  Young and Smith then felt a calling to continue their work of proclaiming the message of Jesus Christ by reaching as many people as possible.  Theos Theatricals, Inc. was created to continue this important work and to present The Forgotten Carols again in 2012, and in subsequent years to present other similar entertainment vehicles already identified by Young and Smith.  It is their plan that Theos Theatricals will nurture new Christian talent and properties.

The second and third Christmas tours of The Forgotten Carols expanded the reach and quality of the production. But most importantly, Theos Theatricals was able to get more people involved in the production locally and raise more money for local charities. With the addition of The Bible Study, we were able to help expand the impact of the production into homes and Sunday School classes.

The board of Theos Theatricals includes Mr. Young; Mr. Smith as its VP/Executive Director; and board members Dr. Stephanie Gardner, a Dermatologist and member of Johns Creek UMC, and Laura Palmer, a retired SVP of SunTrust Bank and member of Peachtree Road UMC.
